We are proud to announce that the Hon John-Paul Langbroek MP has joined Surfers Paradise Rowing Club as our official Patron.

As the long-serving Member for Surfers Paradise in the Queensland Parliament, Mr. Langbroek brings a deep connection to our local community and a long-standing commitment to education, sport, and youth development.

In his role as the Minister for Education and the Arts, he has been a passionate advocate for community driven initiatives. His support marks a meaningful step forward in SPRC’s mission to grow the sport of rowing on the Gold Coast and provide inclusive, high-quality pathways for all.

Fittingly, Mr. Langbroek’s first official engagement as Minister was representing Premier David Crisafulli at the Australian Rower of the Year Awards a celebration of rowing excellence and the perfect setting to affirm his support for the sport.

His endorsement comes at a pivotal time for the club, as we launch our bold new vision: to improve accessibility through a purpose-built pontoon for para rowing and the broader rowing community, upgrade our facilities to better support both grassroots and elite-level athletes, and position SPRC as a potential Olympic training venue in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032.

We are honoured to have Mr. Langbroek’s backing as we work to enhance our facilities, increase access for the broader community, and expand opportunities across coastal, para, and flatwater rowing.
