SUMMER PROGRAM
SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT
(Years 8–9)

Join us this Summer for our Rowing Development Program, running three times per week.

The program is designed to build skills, confidence, and fitness in a fun and supportive environment.

School Age Year 8 & 9 Athletes will have the chance to row in a variety of boats — including singles (1x), doubles (2x), quads (4x), and eights (8+) — helping them develop teamwork as well as individual technique.

The goal is simple: keep kids active and healthy, while enjoying the sport of rowing and making new friends along the way.

Whether you’re new to rowing or looking to keep up your training over summer, this program is a great way to learn, improve, and stay connected.

SUMMER PROGRAM
HIGH PERFORMANCE (U17,19, 21, 23 & SNR)

The Summer Program at SPRC is focused on developing athletes to perform at both national and international level running from September through to April.

Training and racing are designed to prepare crews for peak performances at the Queensland State Championships in January, with regular competition opportunities at local regattas in the lead-up.

The pathway then continues with major competitions across the season, including the NSW State Championships in February, the Australian Rowing Championships in March, and for selected athletes, the Australian Team Selection Trials in April.

This is the most exciting and dynamic time of the year at our shed, with athletes training side by side, building towards racing the best crews in Australia — and beyond.

Due to limited spots, entry into the HP Program will be determined based on rowing background, regatta history, and individual ergometer benchmarks.

Program details will be sent once athlete registrations are confirmed

WINTER PROGRAM
HIGH PERFORMANCE

The Winter Program is designed as a natural continuation for athletes who have completed a strong summer season and competed at the national level. This squad focuses on off-season rowing in a supportive and flexible environment, with an emphasis on enjoying the sport while developing skills in larger boats.

Training through winter provides athletes with the chance to stay connected with their teammates, remain engaged with the club community, and take part in domestic big-boat racing opportunities.

A unique aspect of this program is the opportunity to train alongside athletes preparing for World Championship for Australia, offering invaluable experience and inspiration.

For School Rowers, especially those aiming to secure a place in their School’s First VIII, the Winter Program is highly recommended.

It builds the consistency, strength, and technical foundation needed to perform at the highest level in the upcoming school season.
